LOLElizabeth Ward Blaylock Jim Dees was the Director or Manager. Before that Customer Service was at 2600 Nonconnah.David Hunt Elizabeth said it right ... I see his face and can't remember his name Chuck Siegfried Ron Elmore. The devil himself.lolJimmy Glenn Burk My First Meeting with Ron : Around 1983 I was at the CAC and needed to connect some modems between the Tandems and COSMOS for test. I connected and needed to call Elaine Turner to activate so we could test the NPSI x.25 links. I had no phone, so I went to the office next door. It was a room with about 15 desks with a phone on each desk. There were only 3 people in the room. I went to an empty desk and picked up the phone….and everyone started looking at me funny. Ron came over and very sternly told me that I couldn’t use the phones,,,,the phones were for official business only and for emergencies if problems with the call centers arose. I looked around and said,,,,you are telling me that there are 13 phones not used here…and I can’t use one of them to make one call??? Ron, as serious as he could be…’yes…these phones are for emergencies only…’ I immediately said….’Who do you work for?’ He said…’I work for Winn Stephenson….’ I knew Winn’s phone number, I had previously worked for him one month a year before. I didn’t ask Ron, but immediately called Winn on Ron’s phones. I told him where I was, and asked ‘Can I use one of your 13 unused phones at the CAC???’ Winn, said ‘of course’…. And I said ’well ...will you tell your manager that I can use the phone’…and handed it to Ron. Ron had a short conversation with Winn and hung up. He then said, ‘ Mr. Burk, you can use any and all of our phones and desks anytime you want….can we get you some coffee…and how would you like it’…

Jon Peacock1/14/2015

Chuck is right, Ron Elmore was the devil himself. The other techs were Chuck, Herbert Peterman, Jon Peacock, David Pike.

FedEx Trivia Quiz Who am I?In the early 80's I saw the need for a dedicated Customer Service group of agents dedicated to only handing Billing issues and proposed to Jim Barksdale that this group be created. The group was formed and I had hoped to be the MD over that group .The Data Entry group consisting of about 6 managers and Staff went thru some turmoil with inappropriate things being done. JLB fired all but 1 of the managers and asked me to head this group and repair the groups morale instead of being MD over the Billing Customer department.Who am I?

Don Rose1/16/2015

Paul Lucking & Information Central?

Gary Phillips1/16/2015

Why, you're Jimmy Green Burk. I don't know who headed up that group however.

Ann Hoff Crum1/16/2015

Tucker Taylor was Sr. VP of customer service. Jim Dees was.....maybe director ....

Don Rose1/16/2015

Got it now. Charlie Germano.

Don Rose1/16/2015

Jerry Ford was previous MD, one of many who got fired. Clark Tower.

Jimmy Glenn Burk1/16/2015

Don got it right......Charlie Germano...very nice person. He told me that he really wanted the Billing Cust Service group...but Jim Barksdale wanted someone mature to rebuild the data entry group..and he fit the bill

Don Rose1/16/2015

Charlie was a great guy. He was my MD at Clark Tower in ITD. Loved the guy and sure hated to hear he passed.

Jim Bentley1/16/2015

Was it Charlie Germano?

Don Rose1/16/2015

More on Charlie. His wife and daughters wanted a pool and, since Charlie was a "I can do anything" kinda guy, he built them one. He bought plans, the pool kit, and hired a backhoe to dig the hole. It looked great. JLB saw it and wanted one, so Charlie built Jim one too. I think he built 3 or 4 pools that summer.

Subject: FedEx Trivia Quiz #1001 1/21/2015 True or False

Jimmy Glenn Burk1/21/2015

FedEx Trivia Quiz #1001 1/21/2015 True or Falsea. Before Federal Express built it's own ground services division, FWS met with the CEO of UPS to offer them the opportunity to deliver express packages on behalf of FedExb. After initially starting service, Federal Express stopped using it's own aircraft and used passenger airlines for over a month to transport packagesc. Federal Express moved from Little Rock to Memphis because Memphis had better weather.d. FedEx once entered into binding agreements to ship packages to South America using contract carriers and not FedEx jets

Jon Peacock1/21/2015

A. False B. False C. False. D. False. E. True

Jon Peacock1/21/2015

Missed no E. ... D. True

Sherry Little1/21/2015

Actually B is true. We Delta Dashed everything for a while.

Vicki Shirey Sanders1/21/2015

B. I remember using Delta Dash. C is partially true from little rock to Memphis but because of LR airport not cooperating. Oops what a mistake they made.

Jimmy Glenn Burk1/21/2015

Answers: a. TRUE Federal had hired several people from UPS and Michael Basch set up a meeting with the UPS CEO to discuss. UPS wasn't interested at all...thankfully b. TRUE The first night about 7 Falcons came in with about 6 packages, and one of the packages was a Birthday present sent by FWS to someone. The company decided to rethink the cities they were going and also expand. Charlie Brandon led an ops research type effort to pick the cities and they added Rochester..a major site for IBM. Passenger airlines were used to transport packages until this new city structure was determined. c. False Little Rock airport officials would not expand the airport facilities and improve them for a startup like Federal Express. On the other hand Federal was offered space on the Memphis airport facility to build a hub and airport bond money to build it, plus Hangars to house employees...to move here. d. TRUE In the mid 90's when the Pilot Union (while contract was being negotiated) made several comments to the news about problems they forsaw of shipping packages for Christmas thru FedEx..and that they might not arrive on time, FedEx started making some agreements for the future. Half the pilot force was needed at the time to fly International routes so some routes were contracted to Europe and to South America so that is where the company looked first to find alternative transport. I'm not sure if these were ever actually used, but the agreements made were supposedly binding for a year or two.
